PE Program

Our physical education program is an integral part of the total educational program at Washington and contributes toward the physical and mental welfare of all students. All physical education classes are co-educational.

The goals of our program are aligned with the LBUSD Content Standards which are based on the premise that quality of life can be enhanced through daily participation in a comprehensive physical education program. At Washington, our goal is to help each student become responsible, develop a positive self-image, practice positive interactions with others, and develop an understanding of the importance of movement skills through team and individual sports, and improved cardiovascular system through weekly runs and activities.

The body and mind are interdependent; the body must be fit if the mind is to function to its maximum!

PE Superstars

Several times each year, students can earn the privilege of being chosen to participate in active-sports themed field trips such as rock climbing, ice skating, and kayaking. Students are selected by the PE department based on participation in class and demonstration of leadership qualities.

Parent-Teacher Communication

We look forward to meeting you at anytime during the school year.If you would like to meet with any teacher in person, please follow the school guidelines and schedule an appointment at least 24 hours or greater in advance.

Medical Excuses

A non-participation written excuse from home for 1-3 days will be accepted. Students are required to give the note to the teacher before class. The student is still required to dress. A doctor’s note is required for 3 days or longer.
